Wendi Lane is a reporter on the FOX26 Great Day Morning Show.
Though not a California native, Wendi loves the warmth and sunshine of the Fresno area, its friendly people, and the accessibility to the mountains and coast.
Wendi grew up in the small town of Greenfield, Iowa. Just as it sounds, she spent summers picking sweet corn and winters walking 10 miles to school in 18 feet of snow uphill in both directions... Okay, maybe those were her father's stories. But she did pick sweet corn and it did snow a lot. After high school, Wendi received a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Iowa but didn't go directly into the news industry. She worked in web and marketing for several years before realizing she wanted something more than what was offered behind the gray walls of her cubicle. She wanted to use her love for writing to try to make a difference. So she went back to school for Broadcasting at the New York Film Academy in New York City.
After that, Wendi worked as a reporter for KCCI in Des Moines, IA and as an Anchor/Reporter for KCWY in Casper, WY. While in Wyoming, she received awards for Best Breaking News Story and Best Anchor for the 2015 Wyoming Association of Broadcasting Awards. But, tired of the brutal winters in the Midwest and Mountain West, Wendi made her way even farther West to the Central Valley.
Wendi is a writer at heart. In her free time you'll find her writing short stories, reading, working on art projects, cooking, traveling, hiking, riding her bike, always cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and talking obsessively about her late basset hound, Dolly, who was the love of her life. Wendi considers herself extremely blessed and is grateful for the opportunities she's had. She is a huge animal lover, and loves capturing the stories that make us all part of this crazy and beautiful world.
