North Fork Man Jailed For Attempting To Bury Stolen Car, Deputies Say
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) —
A 35-year-old man was arrested over the weekend for trying to bury pieces of a stolen car, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies received an anonymous tip around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday that led them to a home on Wyle Ranch Road in North Fork.
When deputies arrived, they spotted a bulldozer and a car that had been stripped of tires, door paneling and parts of the dash board.
The car, a 2013 silver 4-door Ford Focus, had been reported stolen out of Tulsa, Okla.
Shane Anthony Shaffer, who owns the property, told deputies that the car was left on his property by a friend, the sheriff's office said.
Shaffer was booked into Madera County Department of Corrections for possession of stolen property. His bail is set at $10,000.
