Too few available courtrooms caused a delay in the hearing of a man accused of brutally attacking a Pacific Gas and Electric Company worker and assaulting a woman in Fresno earlier this month.
The hearing for Jett Simmons McBride, the 54-year-old Tacoma, Wash., man who faces attempted murder charges, has been moved to Thursday.
The key testimony in the trial is from Kai, a hitchhiker who came to the rescue of the PG&E worker who had been pinned by McBride's car.
Kai's heroics and unforgettable line, "Smash, Smash, Smash," made him an Internet star.
The Fresno County District Attorney's Office issued a subpoena for Kai, who has been drifting up across California, to appear in court by Feb. 20.
The subpoena was presented to Kai by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy earlier this month while he was preparing for an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.
