Family of Hit & Run Victim Speaks Out!
Fresno police intensify its investigation into a hit-and-run crash that left a man in the hospital on life-support.
Meanwhile, the victim's family is speaking out.
The wife of 50-year-old Joseph "John" Ortega says, "They left him like a dog in the street."
Yvonne LaVenture says her husband is fighting for his life inside the intensive care unit at Community Regional Medical Center.
She says, "He's got major damage to his brain, he's got a crushed lung, and he's on life support."
She and other family members want whoever was driving the car that hit Ortega to come forward.
Ortega's sister, Natalie Ortega says, "Please whoever did this can you just need to turn yourself in. If it was an accident okay, but turn yourself in."
Ortega was walking to the store crossing McKinley near Normal when he was hit by a car, Wednesday night.
Family members say they've been told by detectives it was a white BMW 3-series, possibly a 4-door.
Despite their entire world being turned upside down, the family of John Ortega is not giving up hope.
They are relying on their faith for strength.
Meanwhile, the search for that hit & run driver continues.
