It was a race that cost a combined $1 million dollars.
As of late Tuesday night, Lisa Sondergaard Smittcamp had the edge in the Fresno County District Attorney's race over rival, and incumbent District Attorney Elizabeth Egan.
"The numbers are looking good, but I'm not ready to say it's in the bag yet," Smittcamp said, around 10:15 p.m.
Smittcamp's campaign held her election night party at the Lime Light in Northwest Fresno.
"It will be a true honor to be part of your world again, by winning back integrity and ethics in the office," she told employees of the District Attorney's Office, who were among the hundreds in the crowd.
The event drew several high-profile people who threw their support behind the prosecutor, including Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin.
Swearengin had her own campaign for statewide office.
She's running for State Controller.
