Driver In Deadly Weekend Crash Already Had Three DUI's
MENDOTA, Calif. (KMPH) —
We are now learning more about the man arrested in Sunday's deadly car crash near Mendota.
He has three prior DUI's and is under arrest facing charges of driving drunk and killing four people in this crash on Highway 180.
The Fresno County District Attorney's Office says Rien Ban is facing multiple charges, including four charges of gross vehicular manslaughter.
Highway Patrol officers say 43-year-old Ban was speeding on Highway 180 and passing cars.
Witnesses told officers the driver of a Kia swerved to avoid Ban, but Ban returned to the eastbound lanes and broadsided the Kia.
Three people in the Kia were killed as well as a passenger in Ban's SUV.
Ban could still be facing more charges.
The case is still under investigation.
