FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior safety Phillip Thomas was named the National Defensive Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards on Sunday.
Thomas was also selected as the CFPA Defensive Back Performer of the Week following his monster game against Colorado when he led the 'Dogs to a 69-14 victory.
The 6-1, 215-pound Bakersfield native intercepted three passes against the Buffs and returned two of them for touchdowns.
His three picks tied a school and Mountain West record while his two interceptions returned for touchdowns tied the MW record.
In addition to Thomas' accolades, three other Bulldogs were also honored. Wide receiver Isaiah Burse and running back Robbie Rouse were honorable mention selections for the CFPA's All-Purpose Performer of the Week.
