An American flag that was stolen from a southeast Fresno fire station last week has been returned, officials said.
Firefighters at station seven on Cherry and Jensen avenues say a man in his mid-30's returned the flag and the rope it hung from to the station around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The man told firefighters that he saw the story that ran on KMPH and then saw the flag and the rope lying in the back of his father's truck, said Fresno Fire Department spokesman Koby Johns. The man also told firefighters that he was not sure who put the flag and rope in the truck.
After having a flag donated to the fire station from a nearby business, the original flag is now flying again at the station.
