10,000 Pot Plants Removed From Sierra National Forest

Nearly 10,000 pot plants were removed Wednesday from a remote area in the Sierra National Forest.

Law enforcement agents spent several hours near Fish Creek -- several miles above North Fork at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet -- removing the plants, 800 pounds of waste and roughly 2 1/2 miles of an elaborate drip irrigation system.

The plants had an estimated value of $24 million, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.

No arrests have been made.
