FNR campus visit: Clovis vs. Clovis West

Nick King visited Clovis and Clovis West, where both schools are getting ready for some big water polo games on Saturday.

Live high school football returns to CW59 with a playoff version of Friday Night Rivals.

We'll have the quarterfinal between Clovis and Clovis West kicking off just after 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 18th.

And as FOX26 Sports Reporter Nick King shows us, those schools are already getting ready for some big water polo games on Saturday.

When the Clovis West girls beat Sanger Wednesday night, to advance to the D-1 girls championship game, it was very much business as usual... the Golden Eagles are in the finals for the 20th consecutive year.

Clovis West senior Allyson Clague said, "All the people 10 years ago who were working and swimming in this pool to get to this point... we are still carrying on that legacy. So it's not just all about us, it's about the work that everyone in the past has put in to create this program."

Clovis West senior Maddie Loggins said, "Yes, there is an expectation and a little bit of pressure to get to this game, but we've accomplished that...so it's kind of like, now that we've gotten to that point, now it's just trying to do your best as a team to win."

As if the 20 appearances in a row isn't astounding enough, for the eighth year in a row, it's Clovis West against Clovis High for the Valley title.

The top seeded Cougars beat Clovis North Wednesday and they've won four of the last seven championship games, including last year.

The Clovis boys are also back in the finals for the fifth straight year. The Coug’s won in 2014, but were upset by Golden West in 2015.

Clovis senior PJ McDonough said, "I remember the other team's fans just going crazy and us just feeling terrible. And it's something I'll never forget. Words don't describe how you feel after that loss."

There are 12 seniors on this team, a group of brothers looking to come out on top this time, when they play at number one seed Buchanan Saturday morning.

Clovis Senior Ryan Trutna said, "Our coach talked to us individually about goals, and pretty much everyone said we want to win a Valley Championship this year, so that's what we're here to do."

The Friday Night Rivals football game takes place at Veterans Stadium in Clovis.

If you can't make it to the game, make sure you watch it at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 18th on The CW59.
