U.S. Navy officials at Lemoore Naval Air Station are now asking everyone there to be careful about what they say and to whom they say it.

The aircraft carrier U.S.S. Carl Vinson strike group is currently on deployment in the Pacific.

It is reportedly due to steam for South Korea at some point after joint exercises with the Australian navy and onboard the Vinson are pilots and flight teams from Naval Air Station Lemoore.

To help make sure their mission isn't compromised air station officials released the following statement today on the air station’s Facebook page:

“While it has become public knowledge that the current deployment has been extended for roughly another month, our team costantly entreats all of you to consider OPSEC in your conversations both online and off.

Please remember... it's for the safety of our service members as well as those who look forward to their return.

Please avoid posting dates, operations, ship's movement and other similar information.

We can be our own worst enemy if we're not careful.”

The notice is reminiscent of the world war two effort to keep enemies from learning of U.S. military plans with posters and slogans like "loose lips sink ships."
