Fresno Police officers take kids on trip to the coast

Fresno Police took more than 40 children from Southwest Fresno to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Saturday. For some, it was their first trip to the attraction, let alone the coast.

More than 40 kids got to experience a day in Monterey with Fresno Police officers Saturday through the PAL program.

The children participate in different groups in Southwest Fresno, including West Fresno Boys and Girls Club, West Fresno Elementary, and the Street Saints from Sunset Community Center.

For many, it was their first time to the Monterey Bay Aquarium—let alone, seeing the ocean.

Internet giant Google also pitched in – it paid for the charter bus that drove the kids on the trip.

McDonald’s also provided the children with breakfast.

Fresno Police Officer Chaperones Fernando Rosario, Chris Clark, Vincent Bantayan, Ignacio Ruiz and Mike Gebhart joined the children on the trip.

Fresno Police say this is only one of a handful of events it has planned for 2017 in the Southwest Policing District.
