Flames shoot through windows of vacant building in Central Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. —
Firefighters were investigating the cause of a vacant building fire that happened in Central Fresno early Thursday morning.
Fresno firefighters were called to a building on E. Clay Ave. near Olive and Fresno around 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, they said they saw flames shooting out of all of the windows and parts of the roof.
Crews immediately got to work to put the fire out, but the flames and smoke had done so much damage that Battalion Chief Randy Reitt said the property would likely be a total loss, adding that most damage had been done at the rear of the property.
Firefighters said they did not find anyone inside the building. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and was under investigation.
