Wendi previews the 7th Annual California Classic Weekend
FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) —
This weekend is the 7th Annual California Classic Weekend, which includes a only half-marathon through the Chaffee Zoo and bike ride on a closed portion of Highway 168.
Wendi Lane spent the morning at the Cyclebar in Fresno getting a preview of the event.
On April 1st, more than 2,000 cyclists will have the freeway all to themselves as they ride ten miles down Highway 168 to begin their 100-, 60- or 35-mile ride. Highway 168 will be closed to westbound traffic from McKinley to Shepherd on Saturday April 2nd from 7:00 am to 10:00 am to accommodate the first leg of the bike events.
The Eastbound lanes of 168 will remain open throughout the duration of the event.
On April 2nd, runners will run through the new African Adventure exhibit at Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo, historic Downtown Fresno, Tower District and finish the race at home plate in Chukchansi Park.
Participants have the option to choose between a half marathon, half marathon relay or a 5K run/walk.
There is also a health and fitness expo on Friday, March 31st at New Harvest Church, located at 698 Minnewawa in Clovis.
