You Can Help Save A Child's Life With $100
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
Your $100 ticket goes a long way to help the children who receive life-saving treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The state-of-the-art facility, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is two-and-a-half million square feet of magic with about 3,600 employees.
On average, about 7,800 patients are seen at St. Jude every year -- having treated kids from all around the world and all 50 states.
Opened in 1962, founder Danny Thomas didn't think that any child should die in the dawn of life, and man is this place making that happen.
50 years ago, when the place opened, the survival rate for childhood cancers was 20%. Now, it's 80%.
Obviously a place like this isn't cheap to run, after all, it never collects a penny from a patient. Daily operating costs are 1.8 million dollars -- primarily paid for by donations like the Dream Home Giveaway.
