A big rig trailer has been ripped to shreds after it was hit by a train in Fresno County.
The accident happened at Golden State Avenue and Manning Avenue Monday afternoon.
The driver of the big rig wasn't hurt. He tells KMPH Fox 26 News that he was driving over the rail road tracks when the crossing arms came down and the alarms started going off.
The driver says he didn't realize the back end of the trailer was still on the tracks. The train ended up slamming into the back of the big rig leaving the trailer in pieces.
Union Pacific Police gave the driver a ticket for being on the rail road tracks. Fowler Police and the California Highway Patrol are also investigating the accident. If they determine the driver is at fault he will have to pay for all the damages.
