VISALIA, Calif. (KMPH) —
Five teenage thieves, as young as 15-year-old were arrested in the south valley, after Visalia Police were able to connect the teens to a rash of home break-ins.
They were caught in part thanks to a video captured by a homeowner's video surveillance camera.
Police say the video shows 18-year old Diego Ortiz from Delano, kick down the front door then a gang of a 17 year old, two 16 year olds, and a 15 year old ran inside and grabbed what they could.
Morgan Yost came home a short time later.
Morgan Yost says, "Parts of the door were on the floor, I didn't even think we would get broken into, it was pretty shocking."
Visalia police say after arresting Ortiz detectives' recovered coins and a watch belonging to the Yost family in his Delano home.
Detectives also shared their information with other police agencies in the south valley and were able to tie the teenage thieves to other break in's in Tulare and Porterville.
