A new study shows even though diet soda has no calories experts say it won't help you lose weight.
Researchers at the University of Texas found that over a decade, diet soda drinkers had a 70 percent greater increase to their waistlines compared with non-drinkers.
Experts say it's because your body processes artificial sweeteners just like sugar, causing you to still gain weight.
Part of it might also be psychological. You might justify eating less-healthy foods because you had a "diet" drink.
Other studies found there is also a greater risk for type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and for women - osteoporosis.
And here's something else: a recent study linked drinking soda (diet and regular) to a higher risk of depression!
