A 32-year-old man said to be behind a rash of armed robberies across Fresno is now behind bars.
Officers arrested Willie Murphy at a home in Fresno on Saturday, just days after KMPH began airing footage of Murphy holding-up businesses where a female clerk was operating the cash register.
Over the last two months, Murphy robbed six Fresno businesses by posing as a customer and then flashing a gun tucked into the waistband of his pants before demanding money from them.
In at least one case, Murphy jumped over the counter.
Police say they found an air gun that was used in some of the robberies.
Murphy, a validated gang member and registered sex offender currently under county probation, admitted to police that he has a "meth problem."
