Police: Man Shoplifts While Wife, Kids Wait In Car
HANFORD, Calif. (KMPH) —
A Clovis couple is in jail after police say the two took their children along on a shoplifting trip in Hanford.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, Hanford Police received a call about a theft at the Walmart.
Police say 38-year-old Michael Marbry had gone inside the store and left with $700 worth of stolen merchandise.
His wife, 32-year-old Michelle Marbry, and their three kids -- ages 5, 7, and 11 -- were waiting inside the car.
After running some red lights, they were tracked down a few blocks away.
Investigators say Michael Marbry was drunk at the time of the arrest. They say his wife was sober but could not say why she let her drunk husband drive.
Michael Marbry was arrested for a warrant out of Fresno County. He faces charges of theft, three counts of felony child endangerment and DUI.
Michelle Marbry was arrested for three counts of felony child endangerment.
The three children were turned over to Child Protective Services.
