Police: Argument Likely A Factor In Central Fresno Murder
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
A 29-year-old man was arrested outside of a Fresno convenience store early Thursday morning after shooting his mother to death, police said.
Javier Sanchez told officers who arrived at a 7-Eleven at 1596 N. Palm around 1 a.m. that he had shot his 62-year-old mother, Sylvia Valencia, and killed her while at their nearby residence.
Officers responded to the home in the area of Arthur and McKinley avenues. Valencia was found dead of a gunshot wound.
Detectives said the murder resulted from an argument between Valencia and Sanchez.
Sanchez is in Fresno Police Department custody and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail later today for murder.
