The peace at Tranquility Elementary School was disrupted on Tuesday after a group of parents staged a protest.
Parents say they kept their 5th-grade students at home to protest the return of one of the school's teachers.
Although parents declined to go on camera with KMPH, they say the teacher was always absent.
After parents made administrators aware of the chronic absences, a long-term substitute was brought in.
However, last week, as state testing was about to begin, the teacher was brought back into the classroom.
Matthew Kinnunen, the school's principal, declined to comment, saying the matter was a personnel issue. Kinnunen did say that he is working with parents to assure them that their children will be provided with a safe learning environment.
