New Pistachio Plant Coming To Firebaugh
FIREBAUGH, Calif. (KMPH) —
The Horizon Nut Company has purchased 1,200 acres in Firebaugh for a new facility that will expand its pistachio processing operation to 100 million pounds each year.The expansion is driven by the need to serve more growers and to meet increased demand for California pistachios.The Firebaugh facility will do hulling, drying, processing and warehousing. The Firebaugh facility will run much like Horizon Nut Company's existing operations in Tulare and Lost Hills CA, which combined, process over 45 million pounds of pistachios annually."Horizon Nut Company is proud of the success it brings to its grower-members by producing safe and quality pistachios," said Andrew Howe, General Manager for Horizon Nut Company.The first phase of the new Horizon Nut Company facility is projected to be in full operation for the 2015 pistachio harvest season.
