Former Fresno State basketball standout Paul George has been named the 2013 NBA Most Improved Player.
George, a 6-9 swing player, is averaging 17 points and eight rebounds a game this season for the Indiana Pacers, both career highs.
A first round draft pick out of Fresno State in 2010, George has been named to his first All Star game and led the pacers to their first Central Division championship in nine years.
George, who had nearly twice as many votes as the second place finisher, says hard work over the summer paid off in an improved game at the offensive end of the floor.
Along with the award, George won a new car, which he donated to a Southern California community center.
