An 18-year-old man is dead after being shot in Selma, and now investigators are trying to figure out who pulled the trigger.
Selma Police say on September 7, at about 1:30 a.m., a blue or green mid-90s model van pulled up in front of a home in the 3200 block of Thompson Avenue. They say a man with a gun got out and fired nine rounds into the home, one of which struck Michael Barela in the head.
Barela was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he was placed on life support. He was pronounced dead three days later.
According to witnesses, Barela was celebrating his 18th birthday with close friends.
