A man accused of drowning a relative's dog has been arrested, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday.
Deputies arrived at a home in the 8000 block of North Madsen Avenue in Sanger around 3 p.m. on Tuesday after reports of an animal cruelty case that came in on Monday.
Deputies say 63-year-old Timothy Joel Holloway killed his nephew's pit bull after the dog killed another relative's cat.
Holloway's nephew -- a firefighter who was out of town when the incident happened -- told officers that he tied the dog's legs together and wrapped a rope around it before fastening a back pack full of rocks to the dog and pushing it into a pool.
Holloway was arrested at his home in Fresno on a felony charge of animal cruelty. He was later booked in to the Fresno County Jail.
