Lawsuit Filed Against High-Speed Rail Authority
KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) —
A new environmental lawsuit has now been filed against the California High-Speed Rail Authority.
Kings County, and a group of its residents, sued Thursday in Sacramento County Superior Court.
They accuse the Authority of abusing its discretion.
They also say the Authority violated the state's Environmental Quality Act, when it approved the 114-mile segment from Fresno to Bakersfield.
A High-Speed Rail Authority spokeswoman says the lawsuit is not about protecting the environment but about Kings County trying every means possible to stop high-speed rail.
The agency also says it has not been served this latest suit.
