The hatchet-wielding hitchhiker known as "Kai"is being sought for the murder in New Jersey.
Kai, whose real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, is wanted by Union County authorities in connection to the homicide of Joseph Galfy, Jr.
Police say Galfy was found inside his home on May 13. An autopsy revealed that Galfy died of blunt-force trauma.
McGillvary is homeless and relies on strangers for food, lodging and transportation.
Investigators say McGillvary cut his hair and his current whereabouts are unknown.
McGillvary became an Internet sensation after KMPH interviewed him back in February for stopping a man from attacking a PG&E worker.
At that time, McGillvary was hailed a hero.
He was featured on national television shows like the Colbert Report and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
But now, the "home-free hitchhiker" is considered a suspect in a man's death in new jersey.
Investigators say McGillvary was last seen at a light rail station in New Jersey.
Police consider him armed and dangerous
