Fresno Nonprofit Hit By Copper Thieves

Arte Amricas in downtown Fresno has been hit by copper thieves for the second time and are holding a fundraising event this weekend to help cover the cost. The thieves took a combined total of $3500 worth of copper, clipping the pipe that provides water for the bathroom and the air conditioning unit.It wasn't just the people at Arte Amricas who were disappointed. Director Frank Delgado said, "That meant we had to close down for a couple of days. It was during this time we were going to have a couple of tour groups of elementary school children, so to further exacerbate the situation, we had to tell them they couldn't come."Arte Amricas is sponsoring a fundraiser this Saturday night with music, dancing, food and raffle prizes to help cover the cost of the damage."Pipe Dreams" will take place Saturday, September 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Arte Amricas, located at 1630 Van Ness Avenue in downtown Fresno.Click here for more information about the event.
