Final Tribute to CHP Officers; Major Road Closures Planned
Thousands are expected in Fresno Monday morning, to pay tribute to the two California Highway Patrol Officers killed in a crash while responding to a call last week.
The memorial service for Officers Juan Gonzalez and Brian Law will be at the Save Mart Center, near Fresno State.
The service will begin at 10:00 a.m., but organizers are encouraging people to arrive by 9:00 a.m. to help accommodate the fellow officers that will be attending. This could mean major delays along Shaw Avenue and Highway 168, as classes begin for the day at the university.
Once the memorial is over, graveside services for Officer Law will take place in Clovis.
The procession will go eastbound on Shaw Avenue to Villa Avenue.
It's expected to begin around 11:30 a.m., and may tie-up traffic along Eastbound Shaw.
Once Officer Law's service is over, the procession will travel to Tulare for graveside services for Officer Gonzalez.
The procession is expected to leave Clovis around 1:30 p.m.
It will head down highways 168, 41, and 99.
The procession will exit Oaks Street, then westbound on Cartmill and north on J Street.
It will end at North Tulare Public Cemetery on J Street, just south of Highway 99.
If you'd like to pay tribute to the officers, but can't attend the service, you can watch the procession along Shaw Avenue in Clovis.
You can also observe the procession from overpasses along Highway 99.
KMPH Fox 26 News will be streaming the service live, on kmph.com starting at 10:00 a.m.
