There's now a virtual "help wanted" sign hanging on the door of California's 23 state universities.
The CSU System is hiring 700 full-time faculty members, ending years of class and staff reductions.
The number of undergraduate applications at the Cal-State system's 23 campuses is expected to be a record, at over 760,000.
Last year, there were 470 CSU new faculty hires.
Money for this year's hiring comes primarily from a $125 million increase in state funding.
The Los Angeles Times says the system is under pressure to move undergraduates through the system faster and to reduce the need for temporary instructors.
