Gang Members Shoot At Fresno Police Officer In Case Of Mistaken Identity
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
Fresno Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened at Cedar and Butler Monday night.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer says that the officer was in his personal car when a white Honda drove up to him. Dyer says the 4 people in the car asked which gang the officer was affiliated with. Then police say the men fired at the officer at least 6 times.
The police chief says the officer fired back and injured 3 of the men in the car.
Police say 2 of the gang members were dropped off at the hospital. The fourth gang member was arrested during a traffic stop.
The officer was on his way to work when the shooting happened. He has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
