Cancer Risk Goes Up With Popular Health Supplement

A new study shows that some supplements taken to lower prostate cancer risk, may actually do the opposite.

The study from the National Cancer Institute found men who took high doses of selenium and vitamin E when they already had high selenium levels increased their risk by more than 90%.

Those with low selenium levels who took vitamin E supplements increased prostate cancer risk by more than 60%.

Researchers are not sure why high doses increase risk, but their findings provide additional evidence from other studies linking high dose supplements with increased cancer risks.
