Can Dogs Climb Trees? Fresno Dog Proves They Can
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
Cats climb trees all the time, but have you ever seen a dog climb a tree?
5-year-old mutt, Buddy has been climbing trees since he was a puppy.
His owner, Gerry McWhorter said he regularly climbs the 15-foot Mulberry in her backyard.
"I have never seen one climb a tree before. I am sure there are some that do but I have never seen it," said McWhorter.
Leaping from one branch to the next, the little guys moved seamlessly up and down the giant tree.
"I was nervous about it at first but now he seems very sure footed so I don't worry about him," admitted McWhorter.
McWhorter believes Buddy does for the hunt; looking for squirrels, birds anything he could get his paws on.
"He just chases. If I turn him loose in the front yard, he's all over the neighborhood sniffing every tree," said McWhorter.
While most dongs can't climb trees, according to experts it is possible for some, which have strong enough claws to hold onto the bark of the tree.
