California Chrome Not Done; Co-Owner Apologizes for Post-Race Rant
By Justin Willis
It's not end of the road for California Chrome. His trainer, Alan Sherman, tells our partners CNN that Chrome did his best, and will race again. "The three races... He might have been a little bit wore out. Like I said, it's a hard grind on these young horses. The horse tried hard. That's all I can ask for. He'll live to fight another day." California Chrome has an injured hoof and no triple crown... He finished a disappointing 4th at the Belmont Stakes Saturday. Meanwhile, Chrome's co-owner Steve Coburn, has apologized for his bitter remarks after the race. He had said that Tonalist took ``the coward's way out'' by skipping the first two legs of the Triple Crown. Coburn says he was very ashamed of himself for those remarks.
