Bulldogs Bolstered By Return Of Defensive Star
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
The Fresno State football team opens a new season Saturday night against Weber State.
Senior safety Phillip Thomas was just glad to make it through Wednesday's practice because one year ago Thomas suffered a season-ending ankle injury during a non-contact drill, just three days before the opener.
Thomas, who was an impact player before the injury, is looking forward to getting back on the field and helping turn around a defensive unit that really missed him last season.
Head coach Tim DeRuyter is also looking forward to the return of Thomas, who is expected to reclaim his role as one of the leaders on the defense.
