Two police officers were wounded in a northeast Visalia shooting Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. on Stover Street and Douglas Avenue
In a media press conference, Visalia Police Chief Colleen Mestas said the two officers, who were part of the Visalia Police Department's task force, were out patrolling the area when they stopped to confront two suspects.
One of the suspects complied with officers while the other one fled, Mestas said.
Mestas described the suspect as having gone on a "rampage."
Police were finally able to corner the suspect inside of a home. That's when police say the suspect opened fire, striking the two officers.
One of the officers is in serious, but stable condition. The other has injury to his shoulder, officials said.
