Baby Born On School Bench During Emergency Training
LEMOORE, Calif. (KMPH) —
A West Hills College student in Lemoore gave birth last week on a school bench during staff emergency training.School administrators were in a conference room for the training when they were told a student, Jessylyn Domingo, was in labor just outside.Leo Orange, learning skills program assistant, was nearby and called for medical assistance while helping Domingo.The training focused on how to handle emergency situations on campus, so they assumed it was a drill.Charles Freeman, R.N. and district director of health careers was on his way to the training when Leo Orange got his attention and requested his help. Freeman tied the umbilical cord and comforted the mother and child until they were transported to the hospital a short time later.Landen Alexander was born healthy and both mother and son are doing well.
