The AT&T call center in Atwater is shutting down and its 435 employees might be without a job.
AT&T announced that the called center is closing on Friday. Employees tell KMPH Fox 26 News that they are not allowed to speak with the media on camera but they did say they saw this coming.
A spokesperson for AT&T says employees are being offered the chance to follow their jobs to other locations in Southern California, Washington, Colorado and Idaho. If the employee decides to relocate they will receive $5000 in moving expenses. However, if the employee does not move with their job and cannot find another job with AT&T they will receive severance.
The call center will shut down sometime in August.
