Ammonia Leak At Fresno Co. Vintner: Workers Return
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) —
It's back to business as usual at a wine plant southwest of Fresno after an ammonia leak caused a shutdown Thursday.
Workers were back on site Friday morning at Golden State Vintners off Central and Chateau Fresno.
Fresno Hazmat crews went to the vintner after workers spotted an ammonia leak.
Authorities closed off a one-mile radius around the plant as they investigated. People living nearby were told to stay in their homes and close their windows.
A total of 10 workers were treated for ammonia exposure. Three were taken to a hospital.
A Fresno Fire spokesman said investigators found a pipe was the source of the leak and they fixed it Thursday afternoon.
