20,000 Marijuana Plants Destroyed In Madera County

More than 20,000 marijuana plants were ripped out of the Sierra National Forest, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.

It took agents from the U.S. Forest Service, California Fish and Wildlife Department and the Madera County SWAT team 12-hours to destroy the marijuana gardens near Peckinpah and Central Camp.

In addition to the marijuana plants, 6,000 pounds of trash, drip line, 1,000 pounds of fertilizer and close to 100 pounds of poison were removed from the areas, the sheriff's department said.
