An anti-theft task force arrested a 17-year-old boy Monday morning for stealing a car, authorities said.
The Fresno Auto Theft Task force set up a stake out in a central Fresno neighborhood where the stolen car had been found.
The teenagers returned to the car but had locked himself out, officers said. He then busted the back window of the car in an attempt to get inside.
That's when officers swarmed.
The teenagers took off running, but he was eventually caught by an officer.
The arrest was the second of the day for the task force. The first happened in the area of Griffith and Blackstone avenues.
"We want to put as many of these prolific auto thieves as possible into custody," said Fresno Police Sgt. Tim Tejan.
The teenager was booked into the Fresno County Juvenile Hall.
